The Ghost Files: Paranormal Encounters, Discussion, and Research from the Vaults of Ghostvillage.com by Jeff Belanger. © 2007 New Page Books. ISBN 1-56414-974-9. Paperback. Paranormal. 221 pages. $13.99 US. [ Purchase ]

Have you ever wondered what it is like for those plagued by ghostly encounters, psychic abilities (which technically we all have, only some use) or those who investigate the paranormal or are skeptic to no end? Best-selling author Jeff Belanger saves you the trouble in his new and informative book, The Ghost Files.

The sections of this book deal with death, ghostly encounters, what is a ghost, folklore and legends, possession, animal spirits, psychic abilities, skeptics, paranormal investigation and where are the ghosts.

It was fantastic to see psychic ability backed by a passage from the Bible (Corinthians 12:7-11), some we [people of alternative beliefs and spiritualities, and even liberal Christians] can use in their arsenal next time we are badgered by Bible-thumpers. Read the rest of this entry »

Walking with the Green Man by Dr. Bob Curran

Walking with the Green Man: Father of the Forest, Spirit of Nature by Dr. Bob Curran. © 2007 New Page Books. ISBN 1-56414-931-5. Paperback. 221 pages. $14.99 US. [ Purchase ]

From heroic archetypes such as Robin Hood to Demigods, such as Herne the Hunter, from the King of the Woods to the Jack in the Green, Walking With the Green Man examines the interconnectedness of Man and Nature throughout history.

I found this to be an absorbing book, rich in detail and study and charming with its gorgeous drawings of various Green Man aspects. This is a fantastic source of the mythology of the Lord of the Greenwood.

Composing Magic: How To Create Magical Spells, Rituals, Blessings, Chants and Prayers by Elizabeth Barrette. © 2007 New Page Books. ISBN 1-56414-935-8. Paperback. 240 pages. $14.99 US. [ Purchase ]

This book is informative and brilliant, the author even takes you step-by-step through the entire writing process to help you better create words of power. After you have learned what it takes to write, you a taken into the world of Writing Tools and Techniques, where you will be shown what reference books come in handy and the different techniques of sound effects, literal language and figurative language. Next, you are shown the various, basic forms of poetry, how to spin special spells, create colorful chants and powerful prayers, beautiful blessings and wonderful rituals, and finally advice on sharing your work with the pagan community.

This will be one book that gets much wear and tear from my use. This is a blessing to the pagan community and writers everywhere. Get ready to flex those bardic muscles!
