The Doctor Who Stole Christmas

Alas, I didn’t get The Doctor for Christmas. The Tardis just wouldn’t fit under the tree, you see (I have to keep telling myself that or I’ll cry *wink*), but thanks to my favorite television network, BBC America (and no I am not being compensated to say that lol), I can have the next best thing—a day utterly filled with Doctor Who. It’s like the never-ending stocking … except that it will only last 24 hours.

So, what all is planned? Check it out:

THE DOCTOR WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS
Doctor Who climbs down the BBC AMERICA chimney so viewers can wake up on Christmas morning to daleks, the Tardis, and other Whovian treats under the tree by tuning into this all-Christmas Day Doctor Who stunt. The Doctor Who Stole Christmas runs Friday, December 24, starting at 12:00 a.m. ET/PT and all day Saturday, December 25.

DOCTOR WHO AT THE PROMS – U.S. PREMIERE
The Doctor’s companion, Karen Gillan, hosts a live event featuring the Doctor Who orchestra and appearances by the Doctor’s most notorious enemies – from Daleks to Vampires to Cybermen. Special guests include Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill and Steven Moffat. Doctor Who at The Proms premieres Saturday, December 24, 1:00 p.m. ET/PT.

DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL – A CHRISTMAS CAROL – U.S. PREMIERE
The festive Dickens-inspired adventure is penned by award-winning lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Coupling). Along with newlyweds Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), Harry Potter’s Michael Gambon and Opera diva Katherine Jenkins join the Doctor for what might be his most Christmassy adventure yet. Doctor Who Christmas Special premieres Saturday, December 25, 9:00 pm ET/PT.

… and after all THAT wonderfulness, check out Matt Smith on The Graham Norton Show immediately following Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol. Best Christmas ever, my dear Whovians. I leave you with this hilarity, enjoy! Happy Holidays!

31 Days of Halloween: Ghoul Britannia, Big Bad Werewolf Week & Hammer Horror

One of the best parts of the Halloween season, besides all the epic horror films that are due out in theaters, are all the movies played on the telly. Two of my favorite networks (and no, I’m not getting paid to say this lol) are having some events I want to let everyone know about.

Ghoul Britannia on BBC America
“All month long tune in for a series of movies starring some of cinema’s scariest, most vile monsters, both human and alien, including the network television premiere of Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Plus, get ready for Viewers’ Choice Saturdays – it’s your chance to vote on what you think are the scariest shows and villains in the BBC America library, and we’ll put the winners on the air. It all leads up to a week-long Halloween party featuring marathons of Star Trek and Being Human! Check the full schedule for additional show times.” (from BBCAmerica.com)

Big Bad Werewolf Week on Chiller TV
Chiller TV by definition plays “Scary Good” programming 24/7, but they are doing something a little special this month and having one whole week dedicated to Werewolves. It’s like they know how to make me happy or something…

• October 4th (5pm – 1am) – episodes of Wolf Lake
• October 5th (8pm – 2am) – Hellhounds and Cerberus
• October 6th (8pm – 2am) – The Beast of Bray Road and Dog Soldiers
• October 7th (8pm – 2am) – Werewolf Hunter and Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf
• October 8th (8pm – 2am) – Werewolf: The Devil’s Hound and Skinwalkers

and last, but certainly not least…

Hammer Horror – Fridays in October on Turner Classic Movies
“Join us as we present 20 key titles from the British studio that revitalized the horror genre in the fifties with such classics as The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and Horror of Dracula (1958).” (from TCM.com)

Being Human marathon on BBC America today!

Just a friendly reminder to those who do love a good paranormal show: the complete second season of the hit series Being Human will be shown from 2pm to 9pm eastern on BBC America today. Stock up on popcorn and tea, and get to watching!

This show is by far the BEST paranormal series I have ever seen. It even beats Supernatural in my opinion (as well as Hex) and I’m a huge fan of the Winchesters. I’ll stop there, but if you want to read more on what I think of the show, or if you have no idea what Being Human is (for shame!), go here.

TV Addict Meme – Day 02

Today’s topic is “A show that you wish more people were watching”. My answer? Being Human.

Being Human is a British supernatural drama/comedy series about three twenty-somethings–Mitchell (Aidan Turner), George (Russell Tovey) and Annie (Lenora Crichlow)–who want nothing more in the world than to be a part of normal society. Problem is, while they share a house in Bristol and work day jobs, they are far from what you might call normal. Mitchell is a vampire, George is a werewolf and Annie is a ghost.

The Characters
Mitchell is not the stereotypical sauve, arrogant ass that has come to be synonymous with vampire these days (though he does have that tall, dark and remarkably handsome thing going on lol). He is a sweet, caring bloke and someone everyone would love to have as a friend (just don’t for the love of all that’s holy, get on his bad side). Mitchell is a “vegan” vampire but it’s not near as annoying as with the Cullens (Twilight) or Stefan Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries). I’d say Mitchell is an exception because well … you’ll see. Let’s just say, he shows us how bloody hard it is to actually stay on the wagon. Pun intended. Read more
