31 Days of Halloween { guest author + giveaway } Bronwyn Green

Today we are joined by indie author, Bronwyn Green. Get ready to ogle at some awesome handmade costume, my friends!

Hi my name is Bronwyn Green and I’m thrilled to be a guest here on Teresa’s blog for the 31 Days of Halloween! I love Halloween – mostly because there’s nothing I love more than dressing up! Sewing is one of my passions. I love looking at a pile of fabric and figuring out what I can do to shape it into something else – something wearable and pretty – or badass. Writing is a lot like that, too – taking one thing and creating something new with it.

I’d like to share some pictures of some of my favorite costumes over the years. And I’d also like to give away a couple books. So, leave a comment and your email addresses and you’ll be entered to win your choice of any of my single author e-books. We’ll be picking two winners.

And now, here are the pictures I promised.

My family at a Ren Faire.

Jennifer Armintrout’s wedding dress. (Photo taken by Jill Welch)

My son Corwin’s stormtrooper costume.

Corwin’s Jawa costume.

A coin bra for my sister-in-law’s tribal belly dancing performance group.

A pirate homecoming dress.

My favorite dress that some day I’ll wear again!

Hey Tonya! Thanks so much for stopping! If you ever decide to take up sewing, just think of it as putting together a soft, 3-D puzzle. :)

I remember sewing costumes for my girls! One was more into the princess/Miss America stuff, and the other was into Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. Fun times! I love the last dress too! I have a few that I’m hoping to someday fit back into. Goals are good.

I love everything Medieval! The last dress reminds me of what I wore for a Madrigal choir I used to sing in. Loved wearing those sleeves. So romantic!

    [Reply]

    Bronwyn Green Reply:

Thank you, TL! I love those sleeves too – they’re kind of a pain to do anything while wearing them though – things can get a little awkward – lol!

Wow, loved the costumes. You really have a talent for this and the dresses are beautiful and the starwars costumes are excellent. You have a real knack for this. A multi-talented woman. Living in Australia, I miss Halloween, they don’t celebrate it here and I was born and raised in Ohio, so I miss seeing the little ones dress up for Halloween or going to an adult Halloween party and dressing up. Just reminiscing as your costumes are so lovely.

Thank you so much, Judy! I had no idea that Australia doesn’t celebrate Halloween! I’d miss it, too!

Those are awesome pieces of clothing, whether costumes or not, you are very talented. Out of 8 siblsings, only 1 sister took up sewing and she does some very cool things, she made pajama bottoms for all of us one Christmas, for her baby shower, she made aprons for all of us sisters and my mom, in her baby shower palette, which was pink and brown. It’s a nice hobby for her, and we get rewarded :)

    Bronwyn Green Reply:

I think that’s cool that your sister makes gifts for the rest of you! I really enjoy doing that when I get the chance. :)

Gorgeous costumes, Bron, especially the last dress – draped over a chair, just waiting for a princess. Or maybe the princess recently took it off, having received a visit from her prince…

I’ve always loved costumes, too, but I’m not all that accomplished when it comes to sewing. So many of my costumes have been put together with velcro and staples that it has become a family joke!

I’ll have to post some pics on my blog in the next week or so.

    Hugs,
    Lisabet
